Our Team

John Collins

John is a Production Designer for Film and Television who grew up paddling the lakes and rivers of Michigan with his father. His first introduction to sprint kayaking was watching his second cousin Dan Schnurrenberger compete in the 1984 Olympics in a K4 for the United States. He picked up paddling again as an adult when he moved from Los Angeles to Gainesville, GA.

His increasing involvement over the years with the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club as a parent, coach, volunteer and athlete has deepened his appreciation for a variety of paddlesports and has led him to compete in numerous ACA sprint national championships, dragon boat events, and a variety of distance races throughout the Southeast. John was a Division 1 collegiate swimmer and an All-American open water swimmer, which comes in handy when he flips various watercraft.

Caleb Collins

Caleb is an athlete and coach who has spent the past eight years competing in flat-water sprint kayak, earning two national titles and seventeen national medals. Caleb’s passion for watersports extends beyond his personal achievements; he has been coaching both dragon boat and sprint kayak for over four years. As the coordinator for the Beginner Racing League at the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club, Caleb fosters new talent and shares his love for the sport across the US through competitions and races. Outside of paddling, Caleb is a photographer and graphic designer.
